Vintage industrial Singer 51W51 post bed sewing machine
This is a beautiful Singer 51W51 post bed machine. It is a drop feed with a lock stitch and a rotary hook. There is a 5/16 or 7mm clearance under the presser foot. Takes system 128 x 3 needles.
One bobbin that fits this machine is also included. (I thought I had extras, turns out they do not fit this machine and I had to take a bobbin from another machine). The machine turns smooth as butter and is clean and ready to sew. All it needs is an industrial operator's table and a belt to fit.
Bobbin cover plate is not original and while it functions fine as is, it is a loose fit and you might wish to seek out an original Singer replacement. This machine is great for anything that doesn't lay flat.
Sew patches on hats, jeans, or sleeves, make bags or lightweight leather shoe uppers, or do tubular work. Originally these machines were used for closing shirts, trouser legs, and other tubular work with a bag fell. It is also used for sewing underwear, corsets, etc.
Hemming is also satisfactorily done on this machine by using hemmer feet. I have sent machines all over the world and getting your machine to you in the condition it leaves here is the top priority for me.
