Description: Singer 29K60 leather sewing tubular extra Long Cylinder Bed Large Bobbin sewing machine dating to Dec 1938, This machine is like a Singer 29-4 on steroids. The machine has most of its original paint with a small bit missing and great decals. It is in quite nice cosmetic condition although not mint, Most of this age industrial machine would have almost no remaining paint on the bed. The plates also appear in decent shape. This machine has been in operation in a Saddlers and Boot Makers and Repair shop until last January when the owner passed suddenly.
This sewing machine can be operated by the Hand Wheel, by it's Treadle or hooked up to a Motor. It will come with: Original Manual A few leather needles A few canvas (fabric) needles. It's bobbin case and bobbin. Brass threading rod Treadle Base The needle plate has two size needle holes, one at either end easily switched to fit the wide range of machine needles available.
These machine's use 29-4 needles for leather work or 29-3 needles for fabrics. A wood platform can be added for flat work. Plans can be found on-line. These are called Shoe Patch machine's but this one can sew much more, The Ismac's Singer description for this machine is : "Arm 17 1/2" x 1 5/32"x 1 1/16", large bobbin, end wheel.
Used extensively for repair work and also in the manufacture of a wide range of tubular articles such as, canvas hose, golf bags, automobile tool bags, artificial limbs and other miscellaneous work. This Is quite a versatile machine. It is located in Hyde Park NY zip 12538.
