It does have a reverse lever and it does run and sew. The Chandler is a heavy-duty commercial upholstery machine and is near identical to the Consew 224, 225, 226 series. Since purchasing the machine, I have only used it once to make a leather pool cue case, so I have decided that I no longer need to keep it in my shop. You will notice in the photos that the wooden table base board is slightly bowed from years of supporting the heavy sewing machine. I have painted the metal frame since purchasing it and I have replaced the tension apparatus with a new part (I still have the original also).I have also installed rolling casters on the bottom for easy movement. The motor runs like brand new and the last time I sewed with this machine (probably two years ago) it worked well. The machine performs very well on heavy leather, but I did have problems with this machine on lighter weight leather, as it is so strong that it tended to cut into the leather.
This is probably an adjustment deficiency on my part, as I have learned to operate the machine on my own and have never taken it in for a professional adjustment or service. All of the sewing thread, needles, and other assorted bobbins and parts are included in this sale. The machine must be picked up at my home in Birmingham, Alabama, and you will need a truck or van to move it.
